Claudia,

Can you tell me what you mean by this? Do you want publishing companies listed as well?

I’m limited to the amount of copies I can have! Thanks, Claudia

One of my favorite read aloud books is “Otto the Otter Takes a Bath.” It’s a fun, engaging picture book that’s written at a higher level than most. You could also check out the author’s other work, “Messages From Maryam.” It’s a kids book about the refugee crisis and I think it’s perfect for upper elementary age range. If you’re reading it with them, it might be perfect!

A good rule of thumb is to read aloud books that are 2 – 3 years above their reading level. So check out more ideas here: https://imaginationsoup.net/best-books-9-year-olds/ or https://imaginationsoup.net/best-books-10-year-olds/. It all depends on your child’s interests for what book to read. Consider The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate, The Land of Stories by Chris Colfer, anything by Kate DiCamillo or The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe by C. S. Lewis.

But I’m still wanting to read to them at a higher level. We have been reading chapter books for some time – The Little House Series, The penderwicks, we are now reading Orphan Island. What do you suggest for read aloud books to 6, almost 7 year olds?
